Abdominal Pain

This includes discomfort and bloating as well as pain anywhere in your tummy. One in three people in the general population will have these sort of symptoms in the previous year. As with the other two major bowel symptoms – rectal bleeding and change of bowel habit - in most people the pain will be transient, go away within a few days or a couple of weeks and you will need no further advice from your doctor.
Even when it persists, there will not be a serious reason for the pain in most people - particularly if the pain is not severe enough to stop you working or sleeping and does not affect your appetite or make you eat less and lose weight.

Clearly if the pain is interfering with your activities, you should see your GP, regardless of any other symptoms.
